Purity is a state of freedom from immortality, especially from a sexual nature. It is related to guiltless, blameless or innocent behavior.
Introduction:
Purity is almost a laughable trait( old fashion as some may call it)in today's world,yet the bible commands us to live a life of purity and holiness as we strive to serve God.
Question is_ How does one remain pure when the worlds standard are so contrary to the scripture?🤔
Sexual perversion here and there, no regards for God,no love for God.
It almost seems impossible but here is the goodnews💃😃🤗..There is hope when we allow God to transform our hearts and minds. Do you know that purity is a divine mandate without an excuse or apology? This is because God says " be holy for I am holy" Ephesians 5 vs 3
How purity can be achieved
1. It begins In the heart : make a personal decision today to be pure ..set your own standards ..it is a thing of the heart.
2. God calls us to flee from temptation: if you think you are standing, be careful not to fall👏🏼..how can you go on a date with skimpy dresses, or go over to a guys house to cook for him and arrange his house? Are you a mother christmas🤷🏻♀🤭,or how can you sleep over and say nothing will happen 🤔..temptations in your life are not different from what others face and God is faithful and will not allow temptations to be more than we can stand..
3 . learn to be content..be contented with what you have.. You don't have to go for every outings, your phone number belongs to you ,you choose who to give it to,don't destroy your future with shawama or suya or ice _ cream ..these are tips that have helped me thus.
Even though I am hungry, I chose to drink garri with honour😌..because most times this is what keeps our guard down and before you know it you become too demanding and of course the guy will want something in return.
4. Pursue purity on self: the key to pursuing purity on self is to make sure that everyday you chose God's will over yours and it is God's will that we should be holy because our price is far above rubies .
5. Remember whose property you are : you are a property of Jesus.the holy spirit owns our body not for any man to come and have his way carnally because it is God's temple.
6.Pursue purity in love: any relationship you find yourself, ask yourself this question; what is the purpose of this relationship? Is it for my pleasure,his, or God's?
Keep in mind that you will ultimately harm yourself if you look for pleasure in relationships that don't please God..relationship with God should be our focus first.
7. Escape from the prison of pornography
8. Deny sexual cravings outside marriage.. Do not dwell too much having sexual fantasies because from this the mind becomes dirty and gives room for lust to enter.
9. Adopt strategies for fighting lust: flee from worldly music.
Study your bible continuously. Cut off from every wrong relationship.
10. Kiss dating goodbye and concentrate on God's love and improving yourself .
11.deal with the guilt of sexual failure: you may have fallen but it is time to rise again, don't allow the devil to mess you up over and over again ,accept Jesus today and believe you are a new creature.Isaiah 1 vs 18 ..God is able to forgive our sins and make us as white as snow.
Only make a decision today and be pure for him. Do away with much make up
Dress properly reflecting the image of God. Burn every erotic novels ad replace it with your bible Love God with all your heart ,mind and soul.
12..come out from among them and be separate: make deliberate effort to come out of unbelievers, delete that number of your supposed boyfriend from your phone that adds no value, select your friends, boldly tell them you a re a new creature. Come near to believers, find trusting mummy or daddy that is a Christian to help guide you.
13. Agree on your standards; make a personal decision to be pure onwards; This is a tip that helped me..you are free to make a covenant with God to be a virgin till marriage.. It further helps you to be focused and remember that God on his part is a covenant keeping God.
14. Surrender your dark corners to God: these are part of our life we try to keep hidden ..give all to God without hiding anything because God did not spare his only son ,he willingly gave all..is it too hard for him to ask😞..may God help us 😭this is a part we find hard to do ..may God help us 😪👏🏼
15. Stay in the lord:pray without ceasing,set your mind on things that are holy and pure..this is the reason God asked us to love him with our whole heart ,mind and soul..
NB: it is much easier to fault away when we aren't focused on the things of God.
In conclusion:
There is hope when it comes to purity. We serve a loving and faithful God full of mercy and grace. He does not forgive our sins alone but also promises to help is remain pure.place your trust in him ,and he will be faithful to transform your heart and mind as we strive to be more like him. Shalom!
