Dear single

Marriage takes more than love or attraction.

Go and ask anyone who has been married even for just 3 years.

They'll confirm it.

You need to be objective during courtship.

Have you done blood tests?

Do your genotypes match?

Me, I did blood test with hubby even though we loved each other and even though we knew we were meant to get married.

We still did blood tests.

We checked genotype.

We checked HIV status.

We tested for other things the doctor told us to.

Everything came out clean, and that was when we proceeded to marry.

If you have an AS genotype, it is not medically advisable for you to marry someone with your type of genotype.

Of course, miracles happen but I think you should let the miraculous change in genotype happen before you marry.

I have lost childhood friends to sickle cell so this is not a laughing or joking matter.

It is serious.

So biko don't be blinded by just physical attraction or love.

Marriage is more than all that.

Let your decisions be based on an objective assessment of things and not on feelings.

Asides that, do you guys have an income?

Feelings will not pay the bills.

There are so many things to consider oh.

It is not all about going to watch movies and eating out at restaurants.

Ask the key questions.

That's what courtship is meant for.

God bless.
