Quote for today

"When people tell you their problems or seek advice from you or need your help, it could be that they:

•  See solutions in you.
•  See you as immediate or potential helper.
•  See you as someone with a good sense of judgment.
•  See you as someone who can help them become better.
•  See you as someone who can help them make connections.
•  Do not necessarily need money but encouragement, guidance and a feeling of acceptance.
•  Want you to help them reduce the weight of their burdens.
•  Want your smiles, words, kind deeds and gestures.
•  Trust and believe in you.
•  Want to test your friendship with them.
•  Know that you won't see them less.
•  Have listened to what you said, or read what you wrote, about how you solved the same problem.
•  Have been told by others about how good you are to people.
•  Have observed, or been told, that you listen to people. •  Have peace within them to approach you.

When people tell you their problems or seek advice or ask for help, don't focus on what you have that they want. Focus on their problems and needs and the opportunities they create for you to serve them with the measure, or measures, you have.

Whoever comes to you with problems, or for help, if you think you can't do anything for them, just try to listen to them. Your presence, time and attention may create the connection they need to feel better. People desire connections. They see you as a great opportunity to connect and find themselves."
