In one of his messages, my Pastor in Living Faith Church (LFC), Uwasota, Benin, Pst. Kayode Martins instructed the fathers who are fully aware of their children's resumption dates to always plan for their school fees to avoid embarrassment due to late payment of the fees.
He also admonished individuals to know when their house rents are due so as to work towards paying it on time; not waiting until when they are issued a quit notice by their Land lords, to avoid calling families and friends for assistance. 'Be Responsible', he screamed.
You will agree with me that this is a big issue in our time.
I actually had a particular experience that taught me to always my best to plan ahead of time. Someone called me one of the days to help another friend who was about to be thrown out of his apartment because he had not paid his house rent. Being an intern then, he was expecting me to use my "hard saved" money to give to someone that I wasn't even sure would pay back (because there are still people whom I helped in their days of trouble that are owing me). So, I swallowed bitter pills that day and "kwechiri" (insisted) that my money was in a savings plan and I couldn't withdraw it. At the end of the day, he gave up and went to someone else... The rest was an history.
Now, what point am i trying to make?
Plan your future in your present!
Don't meet the future empty handed, or let me say, unexpected.
Don't wait till you get to tomorrow before working out what to do. Plan your tomorrow today to avoid guilt and unexpected results; so you will not start blaming your "village people".
I remember during my school days, how very busy my schedule had always been because I was a Full Academic Student, a Full Christian, and of course, my social life (sports) was not left behind. I start my night class reading from the first week of resumption. So, at the end of the day, I can balance my life and results comfortably.
Sometime during exam, I attended a camp meeting which ended on a Sunday, I still went for my exams on the following day, Monday and I "smashed" The course with a good grade, by God's grace.
That's what early preparation does for you (Not boasting at all; I am who I am through Grace!).
So, what level are you in now?
How ready are you for the next level?
- Are you in High school, how are you preparing for the University? It's not by claiming that you are a future Physiotherapist or Mass Communicator. It is by planning for it.
- Are you an Undergraduate, how far with life after school? You think your parents will still be sending you money? You're on your own o, nna/nne.
- Intern Rich guy or girl, don't spend your money carelessly because soon, your salary will reduce from over 100k to less than 60k (depending on where you'll serve during NYSC), before it finally vanishes.
- Dear Corps member, how will life without allawee be? You better prepare for those days because they are coming very soon.
- Hello "Uncle and Aunty in love", what investment plans are you making for your marriage? Are you investing in financial, spiritual and mental matters or it's just in romance? "Remember, romance no go give you the good marriage you want. No be by who do am pass" It is by Planning effectively for the future.
- And to you in a particular level, how prepared are you for the next level?
You don't feature in a future you don't prepare for.
You don't prepare for the next level by just talking about it but by WORKING TOWARDS IT.
Remember, what you sow (today) is what you will reap (tomorrow).
The big question is WHAT ARE YOU SOWING TODAY?
PLAN FOR THE FUTURE IN THE PRESENT!
The future is an extension of the present, and hence will deliver what you are doing in the present.
Plan; the future is here!
